Mapping the 1990s Austin Underground Music Scene

For my capstone, I worked with Jennifer Hecker, creator of the Austin Fanzine Project (AFP), to develop a way to visualize the indexed terms collected from the fanzine transcriptions. Using my GIS experience and exploring Google Fusion Tables, I built this map to display the place data referenced in the posted fanzines. This map is designed to grow as more fanzine pages are transcribed. Interact with the map below or click on the link to view it in a new window.
I also created an audio tour for places located in Austin, TX. The audio tour is featured on the Locacious App and available for download on the Apple iTunes App Store.
